Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In the Room Assistant role, your main responsibility is to ensure that every guest enjoys an impeccably clean and welcoming room. Tasks include making beds, restocking room supplies and maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Your workday often involves moving between rooms efficiently, checking that nothing is overlooked, and leaving everywhere spotless. The emphasis is on thoroughness, from the smallest detail to the biggest changeover.
Additionally, you’ll interact courteously with guests and collaborate closely with fun colleagues. Village Hotels values team spirit, so teamwork and communication are central throughout the day.
This is a fast-paced yet friendly environment. Expect management support and clear training, which helps new hires settle in quickly. The blend of routine and surprises keeps the job lively.
While pay is to be discussed, both part-time and full-time options offer flexibility aligned with your schedule and career goals.
What’s Great About This Job?
One standout benefit is the complimentary Health and Wellness Membership for both you and a friend, showing real commitment to employee wellbeing beyond the norm.
You will also enjoy generous discounts on hotel stays, restaurant meals, and drinks, not only for yourself but for friends and family as well.
The offer includes flexible work hours, well-being programmes, and development training through the Rising Stars and Talent Academy. Career growth is actively encouraged.
If you value a supportive and inclusive workplace, this team puts recognition and positivity front and centre. Expect regular rewards and fun team events.
Importantly, mental health support is prioritised with first aiders and up to two mental health days each year.
Potential Downsides to Consider
Housekeeping is physically demanding; expect to be on your feet, reaching and bending much of the shift. It can challenge your stamina, especially during busy periods.
Attention to detail is a must: minor mistakes are quickly noticed by guests and management alike, so a sharp eye is crucial.
Shift flexibility¬–while a perk–can also mean early starts or late finishes, depending on business needs and your agreed availability.
The fast-paced setup may occasionally feel rushed. Some may prefer a slower, quieter pace of work.
Lastly, as with most hospitality roles, recognition is often team-based rather than individualised.
The Verdict
If you embrace challenge and enjoy keeping things moving, the Room Assistant post is a lively and rewarding fit. Benefits, discounts, and flexibility make the offer highly appealing.
Village Hotels’ positive atmosphere and staff-centred incentives mean your well-being and professional development will be valued. For sociable and energetic people, this is a fantastic opportunity.
